Political Filings Stole the Spotlight

April 27, 2025

Every weekend, I dive into our insider activity tracker looking for the most interesting and bullish buys — and let me tell you, this week didn’t disappoint.

Let’s break it down:

The Hot Corner continues to light up, with political filings stealing the spotlight once again.

Sen. Ashley Moody was active, making sizable buys in Nvidia $NVDA and Super Micro Computer $SMCI — dropping between $100K and $250K into each.

This purchase is significantly larger than the typical size seen in political filings, making it a bold move that definitely grabs my attention.

And with Tech reclaiming the leadership this month, these are exactly the kinds of stocks we want on our radar.

Meanwhile, Sen. Michael McCaul was busy, buying shares in  Netflix $NFLX and CACI International $CACI.

NFLX continues to stand out as one of the strongest names in the...

Gold Rush Special Report: A Look Inside the Dollar

April 25, 2025

From the desk of Ricardo Sarraf, @nullcharts

The US dollar has been under increasing selling pressure all year, and just collapsed to its lowest level since April 2022.

When we look beneath the surface, the largest weightings in the DXY—namely the Euro, Yen, and Pound represent almost 83% of the index—and all three are threatening to break out of multi-year bases.

Analyzing the DXY in isolation is akin to evaluating the S&P 500 without considering market internals.

Due to the concentrated weightings in the index, DXY is always going to move in the opposite direction of these heavyweight currencies.

And right now, they are sending a very clear message about the dollar as they close in on textbook trend reversals.

The strength from these major currencies reinforces our...

(Commodities Weekly) A Sweet Commodity Setup to Short 🐻📉

April 25, 2025

After a historic rally fueled by Coffee and Cocoa, our Soft Commodity Index is finally hitting a major wall.

With the price stalling at the 2011 highs and signs of distribution setting in, it’s time to shift our focus from chasing strength to hunting weakness.

One commodity, in particular, is standing out on the downside, and it's giving us a sweet setup to take advantage of.

Let's talk about it...

Our Soft Commodity Index is running into resistance 🛑

Our Soft Commodity Index is an equal-weight basket of Cotton, Coffee, Cocoa, and Sugar.

It has increased in price by more than 150% over the last 5 years. This was primarily driven by historic uptrends in Coffee and Cocoa, which rallied 350% and 500%, respectively.

The complex was the home to some of the best trends in commodities for years.

Now, the...

[Options Premium] Remember Groupon?

April 25, 2025

During a recent Analyst meeting, it was discussed now that we're getting further confirmation that the lows may be in for the broader stock market, it's time to start shifting our attention to stocks that displayed strong relative strength in recent months.

The chart of Groupon $GRPN (remember them?) is exhibit A for relative strength as it's on the verge of printing new multi-year highs. And the team feels if this one goes, the stock could double. If it does, some strategically selected long calls could pay handsomely.

International Hall of Famers (04-25-2025)

April 25, 2025

Our International Hall of Famers list is composed of the 100 largest US-listed international stocks, or ADRs.

We've also sprinkled in some of the largest ADRs from countries that did not make the market cap cut.

These stocks range from some well-known mega-cap multinationals such as Toyota Motor and Royal Dutch Shell to some large-cap global disruptors such as Sea Ltd and Shopify.

It's got all the big names and more–but only those that are based outside the US. You can find all the largest US stocks on our original Hall of Famers list.

The beauty of these scans is really in their simplicity.

We take the largest names each week and then apply technical filters in a way that the strongest stocks with the most momentum rise to the top.

Based on the market environment, we can also flip the scan on its head and filter for weakness.

Let's dive in and take a look at some of the most important stocks from around the world.

Here's this week's list:

A Historic Earnings Reaction From A Software Juggernaut 📈🚀

April 25, 2025

Earnings season is in full swing, and while some names are tripping over low bars, others are launching into orbit.

Enter: ServiceNow $NOW.

The cloud workflow juggernaut delivered a double beat, crushing top and bottom line expectations.

Revenue came in at $3.09B, beating estimates, while EPS landed at $4.04, easily topping the $3.83 consensus.

Wall Street responded with fireworks...

The stock exploded by 15.5%, marking its best earnings reaction in company history.

So what’s fueling this move?

Beyond just the numbers, investors are leaning into the company’s strong AI-driven growth, sticky enterprise demand, and an upbeat full-year outlook that was better than expected.

In a quarter where many tech names are guiding lower, ServiceNow came out swinging with confidence.

When a stock prints new highs on good news, that's the kind of behavior bulls want to see, especially in a choppy tape.

Add to that a record earnings-day pop? This is a stock that we want to get involved with.

So what else did we learn from yesterday's earnings reactions? Let’s dive...

The Daily Number

Is market participation heating up?🔥🆙

April 25, 2025

Today's number is... 70

We had a breadth thrust trigger: The Triple 70 Thrust.

Here’s the chart:

Let's break down what the chart shows:

  • The blue line in the top panel is the S&P 500 index price.
  • The black line in the bottom panel shows the Triple 70 Thrust indicator.
  • The red line in the bottom panel is the trigger level for a breadth thrust.
  • The gray shading highlights when a breadth thrust has been reached.

The Takeaway: Yesterday, one of my favorite breadth thrusts triggered: The Zweig Breadth Thrust, which Alfonso wrote about...

Macke's Retail Roundup

Video: Earnings Season Has Arrived!

April 24, 2025

Below is my weekly video for members of Macke's Retail Roundup.

We're into earnings season. Thank the lord...

For the next few weeks, we'll hopefully learn how these retailers are preparing for a world with(or without) tariffs. Maybe it will give us something to focus on other than the soap opera out of the White House.

These tariff shenanigans really couldn't come at a worse time for retailers—they're doing their holiday season ordering now. And without clarity on tariffs, it's awfully hard to plan ahead.

So I'm looking forward to hearing what these execs have to say. This week we've heard from HAS, CMG, and SKX. I discussed these reports, as well as my Macke Retail Portfolio, in this week's video.

Watch the video below.

A Major Thrust Signal Triggered

April 24, 2025

Sign up for my free note here.

One of the most powerful and reliable signals in market history just triggered today: the Zweig Breadth Thrust.

This indicator is known for its unique ability to spot the start of major bull moves by combining breadth and momentum — showing not just how many stocks are participating, but also how quickly the shift happens.

Here’s how it works:

🔹The setup begins with the 10-day exponential moving average of advancing issues divided by advancing + declining issues on the NYSE falling below 0.40.

🔹Then, within 10 trading days, that same reading must surge above 0.615.

When you see this kind of rapid transition — from washed-out breadth to upside participation — it signals a violent shift in market internals.

And it just triggered....

Junior International Hall of Famers (04-24-2025)

April 24, 2025

From the Desk of Steve Strazza @Sstrazza

Welcome to The Junior International Hall of Famers.

With the goal of finding more bullish setups, we have decided to expand one of our favorite scans and broaden our regular coverage of the largest US-listed international stocks, or ADRs.

This scan is composed of the next 100 largest stocks by market cap, those that come after the top 100 and are thus covered by the International Hall of Famers universe.

Many of these names will someday graduate and join our original International Hall Of Famers list. The idea here is to catch these big trends as early on as possible.

Let’s dive right in and check out what these future big boys are up to.

This is our Junior International Hall of Famers list:

Beware of the V

April 24, 2025

Sign up for my free note here.

There is a real power to always staying open-minded.

We can’t be dogmatic with our approach or our positions on the market. It’s dangerous.

The data is always changing, and we need to be nimble and ready to change with it.

That brings me to the point I’ve been thinking about more than anything lately.

I think it is absolutely imperative that we remain open to the possibility of a v-bottom.

While there is plenty of data that suggests this is more likely to be a prolonged bottoming process… there is also a growing amount of evidence indicating we could rip right back to where we were.

I mean, it’s already happening overseas.

MSCI country indexes like Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan,...

[Options] Weekly Jam Session

April 24, 2025

If you missed it live, I reviewed the broad market setup and what the recent "follow-through day" is signaling, if anything.

There is now an increasing chance that the recent lows are going to hold for a meaningful amount of time. This does not mean that volatility is going to rapidly cool any time soon -- so we'll have to continue being tactical.

Additionally, we review three profitable exits and one trade that is really starting to shape up for us at the perfect time.

Check it out here:
